Accepted Workshops
Abstract:
In this workshop, we discuss how public displays can contribute to a more balanced information consumption and foster societal discourse. Information consumption through online platforms, especially social media, comes with downsides, such as filter bubble effects, and can foster societal polarization. Displays that provide information in public spaces or deploy interactive applications to passersby allow reaching people independent of platform targeting algorithms and can approach people in opportune moments. We want to collect perspectives of researchers from diverse backgrounds – not only those focusing on public displays.

Abstract:
Our workshop aims to bring together researchers, designers, and practitioners from various disciplines to explore how smart co- located environments can effectively support multi-user interaction, identification, and personalization. We seek approaches that move beyond single-user paradigms, enabling systems to interpret social dynamics, negotiate personalization, and ensure inclusivity and transparency in shared spaces.
Through position papers, discussions, and hands-on design activ- ities, participants will examine how emerging technologies—from behavioral biometrics and affective sensing to spatial computing and immersive visualization—can help address current limitations. The workshop will facilitate interdisciplinary exchange and outline a joint research agenda for advancing multi-user interactions in smart environments, identifying opportunities for future collab- orations, datasets, and methodological frameworks that support inclusive, adaptive, and socially aware intelligent systems.
